Projection Mapped geometric sculpture for Sportlife and MTV

Project done working for Sober Industries

Back in 2011 Sportlife and MTV hosted a contest for creative talent. Sober Industries won the ‘Unbox your freshness challange’ for interactive installations. The price of winning the competition was to be interviewed and filmed for one day. During this day we had to design and make an interactive installation in a warehouse location in Amsterdam. As part of the price and the concept of the show we were supported by a mentor that day. Olof van Winden, originator of Art festival ‘Todays Art‘ helped us create a concept and develop an installation to preview in the show.

Because we knew we had little time to design and build a sculpture we used our preferred building material, Foam-board. This we we could easily cut the geometric shapes used to construct the design. The warehouse was on a waterfront and we found it a cool concept to build a fish hanging in the room to project on. For the projection part we were helped by Studio Rewind and Matthias Oostrik. The sculpture was build in only three hours and it took little over an hour to map all the projections and create some basic visuals. MTV recorded the whole day and used the imagery for their show ‘MTV Was Here’ which was broadcasted on Saturday June 4th, 2011 18.35 (CEST) on MTV Europe.
